Brief Project Summary:

This project involves identifying factors that affect seed quality, resulting in development of methods that improve seed quality. It involves investigating the interaction between environmental conditions and genetic material that can cause large differences in seed quality. Collecting information on the causes of the differences in seed quality and factors that affect seed quality will help redevelop ways growers could improve soybean seed quality. Objectives include developing a method to rapidly evaluate soybean seed quality that relates well to state and federal grading standards and assessing differences among varieties in seed quality at maturity and after periods of field weathering.

Key Benefactors:
farmers, agronomists, Extension agents
