Soybean cyst nematode (SCN) is known to exist in about 50% of Michigan's soybean acreage. For the past two decades, SCN has been managed primarily with resistant varieties. During recent years there have been several changes in relation to SCN and its management. These include: 1) development of highly aggressive SCN populations due to consistent use of varieties derived from PI88788, 2) lack of readily available varieties with SCN resistance derived from alternate sources of resistance, 3) development of seed treatments for control of SCN, 4) development of plant health regulators, and 5) recognition of the significance of the importance of soil health in relation to the future of U.S....
