Research since 2004 has focused on developing databases to redefine soil-test based P and K recommendations for soybean. Soil testing procedures were updated in 2006 and required that soil test recommendations be changed too. Changes were based on a combination of philosophy and, what was at the time, preliminary research results. Meanwhile precision agriculture and its relation to crop fertilization practices has become the focal point of crop nutrition management programs.
