Brief Project Summary:

With previous support from Ohio Soybean Council, we have successfully engineered resistance to three major soybean-infecting viruses, namely Alfalfa mosaic virus, Bean pod mottle virus, and Soybean mosaic virus, with one single transgene. Furthermore, through a preliminary survey of 24 Ohio counties, we have identified Soybean vein necrosis virus, Tobacco streak virus, and Tobacco ringspot virus as new viruses that invaded Ohio soybean fields. We propose to build on these discoveries and expand our research on soybean viruses by focusing on four specific objectives during Fiscal Year 2013.

We expect that our multifaceted research will yield measurable benefits to Ohio soybean growers...
