Brief Project Summary:

In response to the introduction of soybean rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi) into the U.S. in November 2004, the USDA facilitated the development of a federal/state/industry coordinated framework for surveillance, reporting, prediction, and management of soybean rust. This effort has been continued for the 2007-growing season. This framework draws from ideas and material presented at the USDA-ARS Strategic Planning meeting held Baltimore MD on December 1-2, 2004. As an integral part of the framework, a national Sentinel Plot System was established in 2005 with the cooperative efforts of the USDA, State Departments of Agriculture, state universities, checkoff boards, industry, local producers,...
