Brief Project Summary:

The Variety Disease and Pest Evaluations (VIPS) program for 2011 is focused on screening soybean varieties included in the annual Illinois Variety Trials. Over 550 soybean varieties are screened for resistance to sudden death syndrome, Sclerotinia stem rot (white mold), Phytophthora root rot, Soybean mosaic virus, root knot nematode, soybean aphid resistance, and SCN resistance. Where possible, field observations for reaction to green stem disorder and sudden death syndrome are recorded.

The VIPs programs includes:

1. Evaluation of disease and insect pest resistance. The researchers will evaluate disease and pest resistance of the common soybean varieties grown in Illinois....

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years.
