Pythium is the causal agent of pre- and post-emergence damping off in soybean seedlings and can have detrimental effects on stand establishment and yield of soybean. In North Dakota there has never been a study on Pythium species in soybean roots or their importance in disease development. The main goal of this continuing project is to identify the species of Pythium causing seed decay and damping off of soybean in North Dakota.
