Multiple stem diseases are economically important on soybeans, and many of them are known to occur in North Dakota. Surveys done 5-9 growing seasons ago identified Brown Stem Rot, Charcoal Rot, White Mold and Northern Stem Canker, each of which, can cause yield loss in the right environment. However, the current distribution of stem diseases in the state has likely changed significantly as Soybean Cyst Nematode (SCN) has spread (which interacts with several pathogens) and soybean acres have increased.
