The Northeastern United States has quickly become an important market for biodiesel, primarily due to growing market acceptance of Bioheat®, a mixture of biodiesel and conventional diesel fuel that is used to heat homes and commercial buildings. Recently, several states and local governments have adopted Bioheat® mandates and incentives. These include Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York State, New York City, and three “Downstate” New York counties. To ensure proper implementation of these policies, it would be wise to keep technical staff employed in the region.
