Brief Project Summary:

Soybean Cyst Nematode (SCN) resistant soybean varieties have had an important impact in reducing yield losses in Michigan. However, the overuse of a single form of nematode resistance has led to SCN populations continuing to increase in some locations. Recent research trials at MSU have shown positive results from the use of chicken manure for reducing the quantity of SCN and various other plant-parasitic nematodes in treated soils. Additionally, laboratory studies at MSU have confirmed the finding of the initial field trials and some manure/compost have resulted in excellent control.
