Brief Project Summary:
This project evaluates the SCN-host status of important Ohio winter annual weeds and cover crops, as well as field pennycress, a potential new addition to crop rotations in the state. The research intends to optimize management practices that Ohio farmers are already widely using, such as crop rotation, cover crops and weed control, in order to better manage SCN populations. It aims, through a series of greenhouse experiments, to identify alternative hosts for SCN so that Ohio growers can better plan crop rotation, cover crop selection and weed management to achieve the greatest yield potential while limiting or reducing SCN reproduction in their fields.

Project Summary

This project will evaluate the SCN-host status of important Ohio winter-annual weeds, cover crops, and of field pennycress, a potential new addition to crop rotations in the state. In this study, we intend to optimize management practices that Ohio farmers are already widely using, such as crop rotation, cover crops, and weed control, in order to better manage SCN populations in their fields. The proposed study aims, through a series of greenhouse experiments, to identify alternative hosts for SCN so that Ohio growers can better plan crop rotation, cover crop selection, and weed management to achieve the greatest yield potential while limiting/reducing SCN reproduction in their fields.

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
