Brief Project Summary:

There is a significant need to understand the ecological response changes in soil and water conservation strategies of watersheds in agricultural landscapes. This understanding of the value of conservation efforts, cover crops in particular, to reduce nutrient loss and soil from upland areas is critical to the evolution of political, economic, and ecological policies for agriculture and healthy ecosystems. The purpose of the research is to provide data in regard to the in-stream concentrations of nitrogen, phosphorus, and suspended sediment in two Wabash County rivers. Other objectives include nurturing partnerships between local producers and county, state and national agencies.
