Brief Project Summary:

This funding will establish an interdisciplinary team to investigate biotic stress responses in soybeans. The goal of the project is to identify soybean genes that are involved in disease resistance and susceptibility and to develop biotechnology approaches that may lead to soybean plants that are more resistant to biotic stress. The research should help researchers to better understand and define genes and their effect on soybean innate immunity and stress response. This understanding should allow researchers to be more precise in breeding and construction of ideal genotypes for specific production environments.
