Brief Project Summary:

Soybean samples will be collected from OSU variety trials and farmers fields. Samples will include several GMO and traditional varieties grown at different locations under varying agronomic practices (till/no till, different fertilizer and pesticide applications etc.). Beans will be assayed by using visual, physical and chemical tests. Soybean samples will be analyzed for their moisture, oil and protein contents. Oil will be extracted from the beans using hexane as a solvent. Hexane is chosen because it is the choice of solvent for commercial oilseed processing. Oil extracts will be analyzed for their fatty acid profile. A webpage for the Oklahoma Soybean Quality Program will be developed...
