Brief Project Summary:

Cover crop species selection and establishment are the primary management challenges associated with the use of winter crops in a soybean and corn rotation system. Different cover crops provide different benefits, so the selection of the cover crop species is critical. This project evaluates the influence of planting date and method on stand establishment, cover crop composition and biomass production. It also measures the effectiveness of six recommended cover crop species/mixes on weed suppression in a soybean and corn rotation system.

Key Benefactors:
farmers, agronomists, extension agents
