Brief Project Summary:

Dimilin is an inexpensive insect growth regulator which at 2 oz/acre (about $2.00) has provided effective control of velvet bean caterpillar on soybeans and provided suppression of other caterpillar pests. Dimilin at 4 oz,/ac. provided effective control of soybean loopers at Prattville in 2009. Dimilin has also been found to be less damaging to beneficial insect populations than some classes of chemicals. Foliar application of boron to soybeans has been shown at times to increase yields in Georgia, Missouri and Alabama. Inconsistent results have been attributed to variations in soil type. Research in Georgia showed that a combination of Dimilin and boron applied at early pod set (R3) provided...
