Brief Project Summary:

Concentrated swine production has increased the manure supply and requires manure management options beyond corn. Soybean is a high nitrogen (N) accumulator (removes four times more N than corn) and is a good complement to corn to manage manure N surpluses. Soybean has been shown to accumulate more N with swine manure applications, but no research has shown the grain N removal rates. Grain yield increases have been noted from some swine manure applications to soybean including the first year of the Double Soybean Study in 2012. Early season growth advantages in this study translated into yield differences of 4, 5, and 7.5 bu/acre compared to the untreated control.

Final Project Results

The United Soybean Research Retention policy will display final reports with the project once completed but working files will be purged after three years. And financial information after seven years. All pertinent information is in the final report or if you want more information, please contact the project lead at your state soybean organization or principal investigator listed on the project.
