Brief Project Summary:

This research will be directed at increasing the understanding of the soybean-soybean aphid interaction, and to search for aphid viruses to control the soybean aphid. The research group will use microarray analysis of gene expression changes to identify specific plant genes that are turned on, or off, in response to aphid infestation. The researchers will engineer known viruses and seek soybean aphid viruses that could be used for biocontrol and/or transgenic aphid resistance.
