Brief Project Summary:

A good source of local variety performance information is the Maryland soybean variety tests. Each year the soybean breeding project establishes variety tests to provide growers with the latest agronomic performance information on publicly and privately developed soybean varieties. The test is designed to evaluate varieties at several planting dates and on various soil types within the soybean production areas of the state.

The main objectives of the soybean breeding project are to:
~ Develop and release improved soybean varieties with resistance to pests and adapted to Maryland.

~ Incorporate genes to modify seed composition to enhance the nutritional value and feeding efficiency...
