Brief Project Summary:

This second year project will specifically address the chemical control of the brown marmorated stink bugs (Halyomorpha halys) (BMSB) as a serious economic pest in Maryland soybean production. It is proposed as a sister project to complement the studies on spatial dynamics and yield losses associated with BMSB (another BMSB proposal submitted by the same PIs).

In 2010, we completed cage studies to determine yield losses; conducted surveys to determine the range of infestations in the state; evaluated the efficacy of selected insecticides; and collected preliminary data of BMSB seasonal phenology in soybean fields.
