Project Summary

This study will refine screening methods for evaluating the susceptibility of soybeans to: Fusarium verguliforme (SDS), Phialophora gregata (BSR), Phytophthora sojae and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (White Mold); and, develop methods for evaluating the susceptibility of soybean lines to Phakopsora pachyrhiza (Asian Soybean Rust). The researchers will conduct disease resistance evaluations of commercial soybean cultivars, Plant Introductions (PIs), and breeding lines using the procedures that are developed.

Project Objectives

1. Refine screening methods for evaluating the susceptibility of soybeans to Fusarium virguliforme (SDS), Phialophora gregata (BSR), Phytophthora sojae and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (White Mold).
2. Develop methods for evaluating the susceptibility of soybean lines to Phakopsora pachyrhiza (Soybean Rust).
3. Conduct disease resistance evaluations of commercial soybean cultivars, PIs, and breeding lines using the procedures that are developed.
