Soybean has recently become a major crop in northern Minnesota. With the high pH soils and cool springs, fertility requirements for economic yields needs to be further investigated. This is a request for a second year of funding for an ongoing research project funded in 2013.

In furrow applications of phosphorous (MAP) is one method to apply fertilizer to soybeans in northwest Minnesota. However, this application method is considered to carry more risk of seedling injury than broadcast/incorporation application methods prior to soybean planting.

High pH soils often times have a response to applications of potassium (KCL) even though soil test levels may test high for the element....
