This is the third year of a comprehensive study on viruses affecting soybean production in Mississippi. The project identifies viruses present in Mississippi and evaluates their relative incidence, survival and spread. The researcher will also study alternative hosts of the main viral pathogen causing bean pod mottle virus (BPMV). The project's goal is to create a better understanding of viruses in Mississippi in hopes the information will lead to better future control strategies.
