The focus of this research project is soybean breeding and variety development. The research and variety development focus on improving soybean yield in Nebraska production environments. Genes and genomic regions that affect important traits like yield, disease resistance, and compositional quality that all impact performance and value for the farmer are also being identified.

In 2012, this program commercialized five new soybean varieties, made significant advances in improving yield, had several lines with superior yields in the USDA Uniform Regional Tests, and distributed seeds in response to seed requests for crossing to universities, USDA and industry programs.
