Brief Project Summary:

Introduction
Producers have some key decisions to make before planting soybeans, one of which is the maturity group to use when farming operations and environmental conditions allow for early planting, or prevents early planting until a later date. Delays can influence the producer's choice of seeding population, which they have to determine in order to minimize plant competition for soil water, and avoid crop water stress that is prevalent in Western North Dakota.
