Brief Project Summary:

What is the potential for phosphate, or phosphorus (P) update in soybean roots? This greenhouse research compares length of the primary soybean roots provided different amounts of P. The same roots were used to determine tissue localized phytase, acidic phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase. The extract from root tissue was used to determine the phytase, acidic phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase activity at different stages of root growth. The project shows how roots respond to P, providing basic information about how they nodulate and develop.
